The Two Fridas means that the painter shows her two versions seated together. Their hearts are visible and both the hearts are connected with a blood vein. This means that the two selves of her are connected by blood and are both a part of the same lady.

The background is very cloudy and unclear, which symbolises that the mind of the painter is filled with a lot of turmoil and complexities. Her mind is not clear and there are a lot of things running on her mind. Most of the thoughts in her mind are negative and full of fear, depression, and sorrow.
